The great thing about attending FIDM is having access to predicative’s for future trends, being able to see all photos of runway shows, seeing the technical flats and being able to learn how to predict future trends (which is an interesting process). I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am about S/S 2013. I’m over this cold situation going on here in Los Angeles and am so ready to bring out my spring wardrobe and add new pieces of course.
However this spring season, you can bet you won’t just be seeing your typical floral prints. Oh no! Designers have taken their hues and patterns to an entire different level. Monochromatic hues brought to you in sugar coated colors, as well romantically infused organic pallets bringing the element of the free spirited to life. Invigorating bright clashing color blocked hues are essential to bring an eloquent finish to the spring/summer trend. Lastly, melancholy shades that bring a somber aspect ties everything in place. I’ve already begun to see window displays slowly emerging from the holiday season into resort wear which is evolving in the beautiful color scheme that is to come. I find it utterly beautiful to see clothing becoming saturated and coming back to life. I’ve seen stores, as well as online, already have begun to switch up their game such as Nasty Gal, BCBG, Urban Outfitters, Reformation & Alice and Olivia. I love that Schiaparelli’s “Shocking Pink” is in full bloom for Matthew Williamson and Laura Biagotti! Ripe Citrus Orange and Lemon Zest are two of the most intriguing colors that are a must have in your wardrobe this season a staple item in my closet for sure! Ombre is still in full effect creating more of a technicolor pastel twist which I am oooobbbsseeesed with (Missoni knows what’s up). And of course you can’t leave out the two most important colors, Black & White. Yet not just the typical B&W but taking the two colors creating Bi-color stripes are hugely trending this season.
Are you all as excited as I am? Of course I love a lot of the runway pieces but let’s be honest I am not paying thousands of dollars for those babies so until then, I’m on the hunt for dupes at fast fashion retailers. I will be doing a post on where you can get similar designer items for so much less until then go on your own hunt to see what you can find in stores near you!
